Let’s come to the point what is a match list?
Match list is a database system designed by MasterCard that provides information to the banks and credit card companies about the terminated merchant files or the merchant who are at high risk because they have something illegal or wrong that’s why they are on the list.
How does the Match List work?
The Match list is based on the database system and the system has 14 reasons code. The 14 reason codes are the activities so, if any acquiring bank report any activity that matches with the reason code that means not anyone can prevent you from being listed in the match list. If your accruing bank accepts your request to remove your name from the match list, then you can get off from the Match list. unless you will be on the list for five years and not able to open a new merchant account. Most merchants are on the list because of chargebacks so, by giving them you can send a request to the Master card to get off from the Match list and the system will get your name when the list will update.
Another drawback of the Match list is that it does not check the accuracy of the report that’s why some merchants add to the list mistakenly but don’t if you have not done anything wrong then by giving the evidence you can get off from the match list easily.
If you are the merchant who is not in the match list and just getting information about the list then luckily you are the one who can try to stay away from the match list and make sure that your business activities should be transparent and not do anything that gets you in the Match list.
